How to use the water eject sound

Dry the outside of the phone and take off the case.

Disconnect headphones and Bluetooth speakers so the sound comes from the phone itself.

Turn the volume all the way up.

Hold the phone with the speaker pointing down, over a cloth.

Press play and let the 25-second run finish.

Still muffled? Play it two or three more times.

What this sound does

The tool plays a low tone that sweeps between 120 and 220 Hz and pulses four times a second. A phone speaker moves the most air at these low frequencies, and that movement pushes droplets out of the grille. Dust mode plays a high sweep, 9 to 15 kHz, that helps loosen fine dust instead.

You may hear crackling at first. That is normal: it is the water moving. When the tone sounds clean, the speaker is clear.

When sound will not help

Your phone shows a liquid-detected alert for the charging port. Sound does not dry a port: unplug the cable and let it air-dry.

There is no sound at all, or the phone will not turn on. That points to damage, not trapped water.

How many times should I play it?

Usually two or three 25-second runs. Stop when the sound is clear. If nothing changes after five runs, let the phone air-dry for a few hours.

Does it work on Android phones?

Yes. The web tool plays in any modern browser. The app is for iPhone and iPad only.

Can the sound damage my speaker?

The tone is within the range a phone speaker plays every day, but it is loud. Keep the phone away from your ears and do not run it for many minutes in a row.

Can I use it for AirPods or earbuds?

Not while they are in your ears. Take them out first. The Eject Pro app has an earbud mode that caps the volume.
